Patriot's Day Ceremony Set For Friday

The event will be held in downtown Canton, and will pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Cherokee County’s public safety officials is extending an invitation to residents to attend their Patriot’s Day ceremony on Friday.

The event, which commemorates the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, will be held at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Cherokee County Public Safety Memorial in downtown Canton.

The ceremony will also pay tribute to the citizens who lost their lives in the attack.

The memorial is located along North Street next to the Cherokee County Historic Courthouse.

This year’s guest of honor will be World War II veteran George Vann. Corporal Chris Shaw with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office will serve as this year’s guest speaker.
