Canton police on Thursday arrested Jadarious Daquan Gilmore, 18, after executing a search warrant at an apartment unit on Hospital Road, the agency said in a press release.

Police were dispatched to an armed robbery call around 1:19 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Dunkin’ Donuts, which is located at 121 Marietta Highway.

An employee met with police and told them a man wearing grey sweatpants and a grey hooded sweatshirt came into the business, brandished a black handgun and robbed him at gunpoint.

The victim told police the suspect took his personal money and fled the scene on foot. Responding officers and Canton detectives spend the next two days working leads to track down a suspect. Working with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team, they were able to execute the search warrant at the Canton apartment to make the arrest.

Gilmore was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center Thursday afternoon on armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violating the Georgia Street Gang Act charges.

“Our officers and detectives dedicated themselves to finding who was responsible for this violent crime,” said Police Chief Mark Mitchell. “Their excellent spirit of teamwork and investigative efforts were vital to bringing resolution to this case. I commend their resolve for continuing our efforts to improve the quality of life for the citizens and businesses in our community.”

Gilmore remains held without bond.
