Police Identify Holly Springs Murder Victim

The 43-year-old victim's body was found late Saturday evening on a private access drive in Harmony on the Lakes.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA -- The Holly Springs Police Department has released the name of the man who was found dead over the weekend in the Harmony on the Lakes subdivision.

The victim, 43-year-old Bryan Overseth of Bigfork, Montana, was found shot to death around 10:41 p.m. Jan. 21 on a private access drive in the community.

The agency said investigators believe Overseth was "was visiting friends and family when the incident occurred," according to an update to a post made Tuesday morning on the city's Facebook page.

Holly Springs police detective Greg Bettis said Overseth's death is being treated as a homicide. He also said detectives are not sure how long the victim had been deceased.

Holly Springs police are investigating the incident in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Cherokee County District Attorney's Office.
