Police Identify Teen Killed In Cherokee County Crash

A Jeep Cherokee left the roadway and collided with a tree early Saturday morning north of Canton.

CANTON, GA -- The Cherokee Sheriff's Office has confirmed the identity of the 17-year-old male who died early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash.

Tyler Land, 17, was the passenger in a vehicle that left the roadway and crashed head-on into a tree, Sgt. Marianne Kelley told Patch.

Deputies were dispatched during the early morning hours of Saturday, April 1 to Ball Ground Highway near Evergreen Road, which is north of Fate Conn Road near Canton.

The vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee driven by 20-year-old Tyler Callahan of Jasper, veered off the two-lane highway and collided with a tree, the agency previously reported.

Land was pronounced dead at the scene.
