Stabbing Suspect Turns Himself In To Police (UPDATED)

Investigators say the incident occurred Saturday evening along Waleska Road near Mill Street in unincorporated Canton.

Canton, GA -- The man accused of stabbing a resident in the back over the weekend in Cherokee County has turned himself in.

Cherokee Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said Brian Miller, 28, turned himself over to authorities Wednesday afternoon.

He is charged with one count of aggravated assault and was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $22,200 bond.

Detectives with the agency were dispatched to Northside Hospital-Cherokee on Saturday, Jan. 2 after they were informed a patient was being treated for multiple stab wounds in the emergency room, Baker previously told Patch.

Canton resident Brandal Byrd, 43, received stab wounds to his back, head and abdomen, and Baker said he was released from the hospital after he was treated for his injuries.

Investigators learned the alleged stabbing took place around 8 p.m. Jan. 2 on Waleska Road near Mill Street in unincorporated Canton.

Baker said the alleged attack appeared to have occurred over a woman.
