Police: Man Shoots Himself During SWAT Standoff
The incident stemmed from a domestic dispute with his father in the Macedonia community east of Canton.

A 31-year-old man was transported to an area hospital early Sunday evening after he allegedly shot himself during a SWAT standoff in Cherokee County.
Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 1:45 p.m. Feb. 22 to a home on Trinity Hallow Drive in the Macedonia community. A 31-year-old man “reportedly shot multiple times at his father inside the home,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said in a press release.

The older man was able to flee the home and was not injured. However, Baker said the suspect — whose name is not be released at this time — refused to leave the house.
The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and negotiators were called to the scene. However, after roughly five hours of negotiations, Baker said the suspect shot himself.

He was transported to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell for treatment and his condition is currently unknown at this time, Baker stated.
