The suspect, who is accused of targeting vehicles in the Pebblebrooke neighborhood overnight Saturday, allegedly took credit cards and driver’s licenses from wallets inside unlocked vehicles, said sheriff’s office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker.
The subdivision is located off Scott Road in unincorporated Canton.

Baker added the suspect, described as a white male, apparently ”took what he wanted from the wallets, and then returned them to the owner’s vehicles as to not alert them that anything had been taken -- presumably so the victims would not cancel the credit cards.”
As of Wednesday, at least three victims have come forward to report the thefts, Baker added. Once he took those cards, Baker said the suspect visited various Walmart stores in Canton, Holly Springs, Woodstock and Marietta and allegedly used them to purchase items such as digital cameras, electric razors and external hard drives.
The suspect would then attempt to return the items for cash at other Walmart stores.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect was driving a red Chevrolet Camaro convertible with a black top and no tag. Baker stated his last known location was in Villa Rica, and just across the Alabama state line where he allegedly tried to use the stolen credit cards Sunday afternoon.
If anyone recognizes the suspect, the vehicle or has any information related to these thefts they are asked to call detectives at 770-928-0239.
