Program To Discuss Tax Incentives, National Register of Historic Places Benefits

Residents are invited to join the Cherokee County Historical Society to learn about the National Register of Historic Places and its benefits.

Stephanie Cherry-Farmer, National Register program manager, and local property owner Bo Ballard will discuss the Register and preservation tax incentives during a program that will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the Rock Barn.

Cherokee County has two National Register districts and buildings in these districts are eligible for federal and state tax credits for rehabilitation projects, the historical society said.

Additionally, Ballard will discuss how he received over $70,000 in tax credits and how your property might qualify for the National Register.
