Why Go: The taste of some mighty fine chili is reason enough, not to mention a car show, a chili dog contest, free canine and human wellness checkups, and music by 94.9 The Bull Radio. And it's all for a good cause: the Cherokee County Humane Society. Chili tasting begins at noon.

Why Go: The healthcare professionals of are offering their services free of charge to the community. The fair includes screenings for heart disease and stroke as well as tips on what to do to reduce your risks. Nutrition information, blood pressure readings, body mass index calculations and heart rate screenings will also be available along with information on a variety of diseases.

Where/When: 185 West Main St., Canton, Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: It's an opportunity to let the artist in you come out. At the very least, it will be a fun night with friends painting and enjoying a glass of wine or two. Artist Sheri Patten will lead you through each step to create a masterpiece of your very own to take home at the end of the evening. The subject is "Guitar" so call and reserve your spot now for a fun night on the town.

Why Go: This classic J. M. Barrie story never gets old just like the boy himself. The directions to Neverland are clear: "Second star to the right and straight on till morning." Or just drive to downtown Woodstock where Peter and the Lost Boys, Tinkerbell and fairy dust, Indians, pirates and of course, Captain Hook will come to life on the Elm Street Village stage.
