Rotary Club Of Canton Raising Awareness, Funds For Causes
The club is pairing with the Rotary Club of Jasper to host a fundraiser on Oct. 19, at the World Polio Day Music Concert in Jasper.
CANTON, GA — The Rotary Club of Canton is busy this month raising awareness and funds for important causes.
For its most recent program, the club heard an update on the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census including how Rotarians can spread the word about the Cherokee County count and its importance for federal funding for the community.
The club also recently participated in a special recognition by the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners. The Board issued a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 17-24 as World Polio Week in Cherokee County and Oct. 24 as World Polio Day in order to raise awareness about Rotary International’s ongoing mission to eradicate polio globally. Polio now remains in only two countries – Pakistan and Afghanistan – and continuous efforts by Rotary International and other global partners are focused on ending it there as well.
