The clubs organized a week-long campaign, led by club advisors teachers Kari Palmer and Molly Miller, that included selling pink T-shirts and bracelets at the school and at the Pink Out-theme football game against Creekview High School.

Club members also took donations and painted faces at the game. The Pep Squad joined the campaign, and proposed the idea of the “Pink Out” theme.

During the football game, two breast cancer survivors participated in the coin toss: Margaret Pecht is the grandmother of Sequoyah Chiefs’ senior football player, Coleman Pecht and freshmen football player, Collier Pecht; and Brenda O’Shields, grandmother of Sequoyah Chiefs’ senior cheerleader, Kaylah O’Shields.

After the survivors were recognized, students lining the field released pink balloons during the moment of silence.
