Seven Firefighters Promoted in Cherokee County

The ceremony was held on Thursday at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex south of Canton.

Seven Cherokee County firefighters were promoted during ceremonies held on Thursday at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex.

Jeff Adamek, who was promoted to the rank of captain, came to the department in 2003. He currently resides in Jefferson with his children Jasper and Kaylee.

Promoted to the rank of lieutenant was Canton resident Brandon Carr, who has been with the department since 2005.

Five Cherokee County firefighters promoted to the rank of sergeant were: Brandon Barton, Justin Smith, Brian Thompson, Egan West and Waylon White. Barton came to work with the department in 2007 and resides in Canton with his wife Ashley and his son, Brooks.

Justin Smith also resides in Canton with his wife Emily. He started work with the department in September 2007.

Thompson also started working with Cherokee County fire in September 2007 and resides in Canton with his wife Amanda. Egan West’s career with the fire department began in May 2007 and currently lives in Atlanta with his wife Sarah.

Waylon White came to the department in November 2005 and he lives in Tate with his wife Jennifer and two daughters, Shaelyn and Adelyn.

Numerous firefighters, chiefs and family members attended the event.
