Students Show Off Talent in Academic Bowl
Six schools in the Cherokee County School District recently competed in the Regional PAGE Academic Bowl for middle grades.
Six Cherokee County middle schools recently competed at the Regional PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades hosted January 10 by Creekland Middle School.
While all Cherokee County School District teams did very well in the competition, which included public and private schools from four counties, Woodstock Middle School posted the best record and made it to the final “crossover” round to determine which of the four top teams would be eligible for the state competition. Woodstock Middle lost in a tough round to Piney Grove Middle School and finished as a runner-up in the tournament.
The PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades is sponsored by PAGE and the PAGE Foundation.

The Academic Bowl features teams of middle school students answering questions on subjects ranging from Georgia history to mathematics, science, literature and the performing arts. Five team members play at a time, and substitutions can be made at the mid-point of each round. The questions are developed using the Georgia Performance Standards and classroom textbooks as a guide.
Cheered on by coaches, parents and fellow students, team members answer toss-up and bonus questions to score points. Statewide, more than 2,000 students compete at the local, regional and state levels of the PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades.
