Teasley, Freedom Middle Schools Win Basketball Championships

Seventh and eighth grade basketball is the only Cherokee County School District-sponsored athletics for middle school students.

Cherokee County School District middle school basketball seasons came to a close on Friday, February 6, with Freedom Middle School and Teasley Middle School emerging as the tournament champions for boys and girls seventh and eighth-grade basketball, the only district-sponsored athletics for middle schools.

Freedom won the tournament for seventh-grade girls and eighth-grade boys, while Teasley won the seventh-grade boys’ and eighth-grade girls’ titles.

All four teams played Creekland Middle School in the finals; Creekland teams were the league leaders in several of the four divisions for the season. Teasley Middle School hosted the final games of the tournament, which was a single-elimination format played over four days with all seven middle schools competing.
