Teen Charged With 'Tagging' In Canton

Police say the 17-year-old was behind eight incidents in which graffiti was found on public and private property around the city.

CANTON, GA -- The Canton Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old male in connection to incidents where graffiti was found on several pieces of property around the city.

Dawson Lee Wagner of Woodstock has been charged with eight counts of criminal trespassing, the agency said.

Canton officers have responded to eight different calls regarding tagging where an individual spray painted various symbols on public and private property around the city.

An investigator was assigned to the case and that detective hit the ground running, conducting interviews and follow-up inquiries.

The detective was able to obtain the physical evidence needed to get arrest warrants for Wagner, who was arrested March 10 and booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

“Our officers and investigating detective worked hard in their response, investigation and arrest of this individual which brought a successful resolution to these criminal acts," said Police Chief Mark Mitchell. "This arrest also shows there is no room for this type of activity in our city and furthers our efforts to protect and improve the quality of life for those we serve."
