Traffic Shift Planned On I-575 in Cherokee

The shift will occur Feb. 19-21 to accommodate work for the ongoing Northwest Corridor Express Lanes project.

Woodstock, GA -- Residents who rely on Interstate 575 in Cherokee County should take note of a minor change in driving patterns this weekend.

That’s because Georgia DOT crews will implement a traffic shift on two segments of the interstate.

One shift will take place on the northbound side between S.R. 92 and Ridgewalk Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 to 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 21.

Another shift is planned on the same side of the interstate between Ridgewalk Parkway and Sixes Road from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22.

To the south on Interstate 75 in Cobb County, motorists can expect:

  • two northbound lanes to close between S.R. 280/Delk Road and Windy Hill Road nightly from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday;
  • one southbound lane to close in the same area from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday;
  • one northbound and two southbound lanes to close over Interstate 85 between Windy Hill Road and Cumberland Parkway from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday; and
  • one lane to close on the southbound on-ramp from SR 280/Delk Road from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes. If you have to utilize these routes, you are asked to pack your patience and proceed with caution through the work zones.
