Tree Lighting Ceremony Set For Wednesday In Downtown Canton
The City of Canton's 25-foot Christmas tree has been adorned with ornaments and needs the final touch of twinkling lights.
CANTON, GA — It’s beginning to look a lot like the holiday season in the City of Canton. Lights are being strung, ornaments carefully placed, and events planned to welcome you for all the holiday festivities.
Bask in the glow of Downtown Canton at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 at in Cannon Park. The city’s 25-foot Christmas tree has been adorned with ornaments and now just needs the final touch of twinkling lights. Knox Elementary Chorus and Teasley Middle Chorus will be performing for the ceremony, and Cherokee High School Beat Out Cancer Club will be offering hot chocolate for donation.
The holidays will be in full swing for the Christmas in Canton celebration. From 6-9 p.m. on Dec. 10, young, old and all in between are invited to visit with Santa, enjoy a feature showing of Polar Express, hop on a train ride through downtown, make s’mores around a warm bonfire, and more. Stores in downtown will be open extended hours for all your Christmas shopping needs.

From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 18, you can visit with the jolly fella himself at the Cannon Park Gazebo in Downtown Canton. Bring your Christmas wish list and your camera to capture the magic.
The Historic Canton Theatre in Downtown Canton has created schedule of events full of holiday cheer. First up, a feature showing of “The Famer and the Belle” at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.on Nov. 21. Starring Jen Gotzon and John Schneider, this is a holiday film for the whole family. Tickets are $5 and will be sold in person at the Canton Theatre Box Office from noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 18 and 19, and one hour before the show begins.

The holiday classic “White Christmas,” starring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney, will grace the big screen at 7 p.m. on Nov. 27 thanks to sponsor T-Mobile. Tickets are $2, with a limit of eight, online and in person at the Canton Theatre Box Office. Concessions are complimentary, and Santa will be available for pictures following the film.
Cherokee Theatre Group will bring a classic adaptation of the Charles Dickens tale “A Christmas Carol” to the Canton Theatre stage Dec. 4-19, various times. More information, times, and tickets are available online.
Wrapping up the holiday season in the City is a feature showing of the hilarious holiday movie “Elf,” at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21. Thanks to sponsors at T-Mobile, concessions will be complimentary, and Santa will be available for pictures following the film. Tickets will be on sale Dec. 9, both online and in person at the Canton Theatre Box Office.
