Upstairs Bedroom Damaged in House Fire

A home suffered damage in a house fire that ignited Wednesday afternoon in the Macedonia community.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the fire at a home on Cotton Wood Drive n the Hampton Station subdivision around 4:45 p.m. Sept. 2.
Homeowner Loren Magen told fire crews the smoke alarm went off, and she went upstairs to find a fire raging in the front bedroom of the two-story house, Cherokee County fire said.

The homeowner attempted to extinguish the fire, but was unsuccessful. She went downstairs to get her children, two boys, ages 8 and 6, and two twin, four-year-old girls, and exited the home.
Magen contacted her husband, Mike, by phone, who called 911 to report the incident.
Cherokee firefighter Lt. Craig Delay said the fire was contained to that one room, and firefighters kept it from spreading to other areas of the home.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
