What To Expect During A Traffic Stop in Canton?
The Canton Police Department has released a brochure outlining the process, procedures and responsibilities of motorists and officers.

CANTON, GA -- The Canton Police Department continues to come up with various ways to reach out to the public and promote transparency within its agency.
The department has released both English and Spanish versions of its educational brochure, What To Expect During a Traffic Stop.
The initiative stemmed from a unity meeting held in July in which agency representatives sat down with members of the local clergy, elected officials and other community leaders to "discuss continued efforts to build trusting relationships between the police department and the citizens it serves."

While the overall relationship is good, the police department said those community members said there can always be chances to improve on communication and feedback to make its bond with residents even tighter.
The brochures will outline the process, procedure and roles and responsibilities of the officer and motorists during a traffic stop. The pamphlet is currently being printed, and will be handed out during city and community events, the police department notes. It will also be uploaded to the agency's social media sites and, at some point in the future, be produced into an educational video.

"The goal and purpose of this brochure is to clearly relay that education and communication are they key components to keeping city residents, those passing through the city and police officers safe," said Police Chief Mark Mitchell. "We are proud to partner with our local clergy on this project and look forward to uniting with them on additional projects in the future with the goal of improving the quality of life for everyone in our community."
