What's Open, Closed on Christmas, New Year's Day in Canton

Here's what you can expect as we prepare to close out 2015.

Canton, GA -- Residents who may need to take care of some last-minute issues with the city of Canton and Cherokee County will have a short window of opportunity to do so this week.

That’s because the city of Canton will close operations for Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Things will return to a normal schedule on Monday, Dec 28.

However, the city will once again close Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, for New Year’s Day. You can expect things to return to normal on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.

Waste Management residential garbage service for Canton customers will be delayed by one day on both Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Your garbage will be picked up on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, 2016, respectively.

Cherokee County administrative offices will also come to a halt on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Monday, Dec. 28. The county will reopen for business on Tuesday, Dec. 29, but will close again Jan. 1, 2016, for New Year’s Day.

The Cherokee County School District, including all schools and administrative offices, are closed for the winter break between Dec. 21 and Jan 1, 2016.

Administrative offices and schools will re-open Monday, Jan. 4 for a teacher and staff development workday, and classes for students will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016.

The Sequoyah Regional Library System will close its branches Dec. 23-26, and will reopen on Monday, Dec. 28. It will also close its facilities at 5 p.m. New Year’s Eve, and will be closed for New Year’s Day.
