Well, that was fast. The summer break is almost over for Canton and Cherokee County students.

Maybe you’re getting backpacks and pencil boxes in order. Or maybe you’re just curious about when you’ll need to adjust your commute route to account for bus traffic.

Here’s the info that you need.

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 3. The Cherokee County School District is currently conducting open houses/walk through events for its schools and those details can be found here.

As of July 21, the front office of each school is now open to allow parents and legal guardians of new students to register these pupils at their respective schools. This can be done anytime between 8 a.m. and noon.

For those who may not be sure what time their child needs to report for classes, the district has also compiled the school start and end times for the 2015-16 school year. The student calendar for the 2015-16 school year can also be viewed online.

Some notable dates:

• Sept. 7: school holiday
• Sept. 21-25: school holiday
• Nov. 23-27: school holiday
• Dec. 21 - Jan. 4, 2016: school holiday
• Jan. 5, 2016: students return from winter break
• Jan. 18, 2016: school holiday
• Feb. 15-19, 2016: school holiday
• April 4-8: school holiday
• May 26, 2016: last student day of school

The district has also incorporated potential inclement weather make-up days for students, which are designated for Feb. 17-19, 2016. Those make-up days for teachers will be June 2-3, 2016.
