Woodstock High School Marching Wolverines sweep awards at multiple competitions

Congratulations to the Woodstock High School Marching Wolverines

It has been said that “Practice is where you earn your trophies. Competitions are where you pick them up”. Truer words have never been spoken over your amazing Marching Wolverines!
Their first competition of the year took place at Northgate High School on October 4th. Aside from receiving Superior ratings in all categories, the band was only .4 from being the grand champion of all the bands. They were also awarded the best drum line, color guard and drum major of the day as well as top band in class AAAA. The students also received a special trophy for receiving the highest general effect score of the day (higher than the grand champion). It was an amazing start to the competitive season.
On October 18th, the Woodstock High School Marching Wolverine Band went to Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, Alabama) and competed against 26 other bands in the “Contest of Champions”. Again they received straight superiors and came in first in their class. The drum line and color guard came in first in class and drum majors came in second. However, the BIG news is they scored a 95.33 and scored the 2nd highest score of the day. There were ten other bands that were bigger than Woodstock and in the higher division (marching 200-300+ members) and WHS scored higher than every one of them. That ELITE group included great bands such as Crestview (Florida), Pope, Rome and North Paulding just to name a few. The color guard TIED for the highest score of the day. WHS also received a special trophy for receiving the highest visual score of the day. It was even higher than the “grand champion”.
We are SO proud of these band kids and their dedication to pursue musical excellence. Their final competition will be November 1st at Newnan High School.
CONGRATULATIONS, Marching Wolverines!
