The incident took place May 7 at the Deluxe Inn at 235 South Dixie Avenue. According to an incident report released by the Cartersville Police Department, the owner told police he was forced to evict one of the suspects from a room at the hotel.

He placed the woman’s belongings in the hotel lobby. The woman -- later identified as Gardner -- left and came back to retrieve her property.

The woman told the owner said she had to once again leave the property so she could bring the him money, according to the report.

The woman left in a red vehicle and around 2 p.m. the same day, she returned to the lobby of the hotel and asked to use the restroom.

After a minute or two, the victim said a male suspect “suddenly appeared from his residence located behind the office” at the hotel. The suspect grabbed the hotel owner by the neck and produced a stun-gun, the victim told police.

“Suspect 1 activated the stun-gun in front of the victim’s face and said, ’Give me the money, give me the money’,” the report states.

The victim gave the suspect $520 in cash, and the suspect -- described as a black male possibly in his mid 40’s -- fled the scene.

As the man ran away, the victim told police he saw the woman and another man “run from outside the lobby and down the same hallway that Suspect 1 fled to,” the report states.

In a strange twist, Gardner is one of two women who were arrested in connection to the April shooting death of Robert Ashley Carr, whose body was found in an industrial parking lot.

Gardner, along with Elizabeth Morgan Kelley, 24, were each charged party to the crime of felony murder.

They were both booked into the jail a week after Gardner allegedly robbed the hotel owner.
