Archery-Only Deer Hunt Returns For Disabled Residents, Wounded Warriors

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host the two-day hunt Dec. 4-5 at Allatoona Lake in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District will hosts its fourth annual archery-only deer hunt for disabled hunters and wounded warriors in Bartow County. This year's hunt will be held Dec. 4-5 at the Allatoona Lake Project Management Office.

The annual deer hunt provides outdoor recreation opportunities for individuals who have a permanent physical condition that severely impairs their mobility and as a way to give back to our country's wounded warriors, the federal agency said.

Hunting blinds will be available by reservation only at McKinney Campground for Purple Heart recipients and hunters who are permanently confined to a wheelchair. Reservation requests will be taken through Nov. 3 by phone or in-person from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
