COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS: Kristin Juarez - Painting as the Moving Image: The Televisual Gestures of Howardena Pindell
A Community Conversation with Kristin Juárez, a doctoral student of moving image studies at Georgia State University

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art and the Department of English will host a Community Conversation with Kristin Juárez, a doctoral student of moving image studies at Georgia State University, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015. During her conversation, Juárez will survey the accumulation of movement and time on the surfaces of Howardena Pindell’s paintings and video drawings included in the Museum’s current exhibition. The conversation will also delve into Pindell’s relationship between media images and screens as an investigation into the fleeting traces of time and movement and examine the influence of the televisual in the mark-making gestures of Pindell.
