Explore Black Chronicles II with Community Day at Spelman College

The family event will be a fun-filled exploration of the Museum's current exhibition Black Chronicles II.

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art will host Community Day, Saturday, March 19, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The family event will be a fun-filled exploration of the Museum’s current exhibition Black Chronicles II. Participants of all ages are invited to attend make-and-take art workshops, guided tours, and a performance by Soweto Street Beat, a one-of-a-kind South African world dance theater company based in Atlanta and Soweto, South Africa. There will also be a special interactive experience curated by Diaspora U, an organization that creates arts programming for children that focuses on African presence in the world.

Black Chronicles II is organized by Autograph ABP in collaboration with the Hulton Archive, a division of Getty Images. The exhibition makes available for the first time newly discovered photographs that document Black presence in late 19th century Britain.

Community Day is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. Call 404-270-5607 to register. The event will take place at Spelman College Museum of Fine Art in the Camilla Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center (GPS Address: 440 Westview Drive, Atlanta 30310). For more information, visit museum.spelman.edu or call 404-270-5607.
