Two Playwrights in Conversation at Spelman: Lydia Diamond and Pearl Cleage

Spelman College Office of College Relations and the Department of Drama and Dance will host a conversation with playwrights

Spelman College Office of College Relations and the Department of Drama and Dance will host a conversation with playwrights Lydia R. Diamond and Pearl Cleage, C’71, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March. 1.

Diamond’s award-winning plays, including Smart People, The Bluest Eye and Voyeur’s de Venus, have been produced across the country. Her most recent Broadway play, Stick Fly, was produced by Rueben Cannon and Alicia Keys and directed by Kenny Leon.

Pearl Cleage, award-winning playwright, bestselling novelist, published poet, and popular newspaper columnist, has won commercial acceptance and critical praise in several genres. Her play, Flyin’ West, was the most produced new play in the country in 1994. Her first novel, What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day, was an Oprah Book Club pick and spent nine weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
