• Cedartown Man Charged After Motel Standoff, Throws Metal Rod at Officer (coosavalleynews.com) — Cedartown residents may notice police activity tied to a recent motel standoff where a 47-year-old local man allegedly barricaded himself in a North Main Street room and caused about $1,000 in damage. Officers say he threw a metal rod toward an officer before being subdued with a Taser and taken to Polk County Jail. He now faces aggravated assault, property damage, and obstruction charges. 
• Humane Society Pets of the Week – June 8, 2026 edition (polktoday.com) — Cedartown pet lovers can meet two tiny, two-month-old puppies, Tootsie Pop and Baby Ruth, now available for adoption through the Cedartown Polk County Humane Society. Both have had age-appropriate vet care and will stay small, but they’ll need patient families to finish housebreaking and provide loving homes. Applications can be completed online, or you can visit the shelter Friday or Saturday afternoons.
• K-9 officer gets upgraded protection through community donation (wsbradio.com) — Cedartown readers may be glad to know K-9 Bear from the Cedartown Police Department is among Georgia dogs already equipped with a donated bullet- and stab-resistant vest. A new vest is now going to K-9 Guinness in Forsyth County through the same nonprofit program. The organization has outfitted thousands of police dogs nationwide, including several across Georgia.
