• Ga. mayor who attempted to dissolve town's PD resigns (police1.com) — Cohutta’s longtime mayor Ron Shinnick has resigned after weeks of turmoil over the town’s briefly dissolved police department, and the Town Council is moving quickly to respond. The council has already reinstated the Cohutta Police Department and scheduled an emergency public meeting at Town Hall for 6 p.m. on May 20 to address the leadership vacancy and next steps for local governance.
