Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:
- A Cumming man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a handgun from a Gainesville woman's car in March. The woman first called the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office to report the gun missing on Mar. 18, by which time it had already been recovered after being sold to a pawn shop on Shallowford Road. The 19-year-old suspect has been charged with felony theft. (Appen Media)
- Forsyth County Schools will see two principal transfers for the 2022-2023 academic year. Tracey Smith, the current principal of Brookwood Elementary, will become the new principal of Kelly Mill Elementary. Brandi Cannizzaro, the current principal of Alliance Academy, will transfer to the position of Assistant Director of College and Career Development beginning in July. (Forsyth County Schools)
- Fans of musical theatre can catch "Guys and Dolls" at the FoCAL Center beginning Jun. 23. The show will feature performances from high school students across Forsyth County. The musical will run through Jun. 26, and tickets are available online now. (FoCAL Center)
- West Forsyth High School is getting a new Head Baseball coach. The district announced in a social media post on Thursday that Coach Tom Kratowicz would be taking the helm. Kratowicz will begin his tenure as the coach for the team at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. (West Forsyth High School Athletics)
- Early voting for the general primary runoff in Forsyth County begins next Monday. Doctor and veteran Rich McCormick will face off against attorney Jake Evans in the Jun. 21 election. The conservative candidates are currently the top two contenders for the Republican U.S. District 6 spot. (Forsyth News)
