14-Year-Old Girl Killed in Forsyth County Crash

Three others, including a pregnant woman, were injured in the wreck near Buford Dam on Thursday.

CUMMING, GA -- A 14-year-old girl was killed and three others, including a pregnant woman, were injured in a crash near Buford Dam on Thursday.

Morgan Tumlin, 14, of Buford, was ejected from a 1996 Toyota Camry and temporarily pinned beneath the vehicle, which rolled onto the driver's side after the driver lost control.

She was taken to Northside Forsyth Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The single-vehicle incident happened at about 6 p.m. off of Buford Dam Road near the entrance to Lower Pool Park, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Latoya Tabordon, 22, of Gainesville, was a passenger in the vehicle who suffered serious injuries. She was kept overnight at North Fulton Hospital, due to being 36 weeks pregnant with twins.

On Friday, she was listed in stable condition condition and the babies were expected to be OK.

The driver, Kayla Savanna Welch, 19, of Buford, was transported to Northside Forsyth with serious injuries, but later released.

A third passenger, Elijah Mayfield, 18, of Buford, suffered minor injuries and was transported to North Fulton Hospital and later released.

The sheriff's office said the cause of, and contributing factors to, the crash remain under investigation. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, the news release said.
