24 Passing School Bus Citations, Forsyth Deputy Shares Nov Stats

​The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office provides an update on November, 2017 statistics, including 24 citations for passing school buses.

CUMMING, GA — Lt. Andy Kalin, of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, provided an update and crime statistics Tuesday for November 2017.

There were 4,694 service calls, of that, 673 were traffic accidents and 609 were alarm calls. There were 54 DUIs, 21 shoplifting arrests and 36 drug arrests. There were also 24 passing school bus citations.

"This is important," Kalin said, "because our school buses are having cameras installed on them so they can catch people who drive by while they are loading and unloading students."

Kalin said the sheriff's office started its "no shave" month to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

In November, he said, the sheriff's SWAT Team attended a join training at Buford Dam with North Fulton SWAT and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The exercise threw different scenarios at teams, both teams worked out each situation.

On Nov. 13, Kalin pointed out that there was a robbery at the Walgreen's on Keith Bridge Road. "Our investigators have been working with other agencies and found that the same man has committed multiple robberies in other counties. On Nov. 15, the sheriff's office welcomed its newest County Commissioner, Dennis Brown.

On Nov. 18, Deputy Rod Reeves was hit by a drunk driver while sitting in his patrol car with his blue lights on. Deputy Reeves is still recovering.

On Nov. 24, there was a fatal shooting in the county that stemmed from a domestic dispute. The suspect was quickly apprehended and no one else was injured.
