The group's car reportedly veered off the road and slammed into a tree before bursting into flames, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

Authorities told the Democrat a witness was able to rescue a front passenger, who was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

"We are grateful to the off-duty law enforcement and several Good Samaritans who stopped to render aid. Their bravery saved a life, and their willingness to step into an unknown and dangerous situation reflects true selflessness," the sheriff's office said.

The teenage girl who was injured is a volleyball player and former lead in the school play, "Footloose." She plays the guitar and piano, bakes, writes songs and was best friends with Fehr and Martin, her family said. She is also a member of church youth groups.

"While her road to recovery is going to be hard, and she's going to need all the support she can get, (she) survived for a reason, and we know God has big plans for her and part of that plan is to never allow the memories and all Jackson, Jaylyn and Charlotte stood for to fade. She loves her two best friends and brother with all her heart," her family said.

Authorities said they will memorialize Mobley, Fehr and Martin by placing crosses with their names at the crash site.

"Jackson, Jaylyn and Charlotte were wonderful young individuals and students who were deeply loved by their families, friends, classmates, teammates, teachers, church communities and everyone who knew them. They were talented athletes, exceptional students, and, above all, kind-hearted individuals whose lives touched many," authorities said.

The "Cumming Home" Water Tower will be illuminated with blue and gold lights through April 17 in honor of Fehr, Martin and Mobley.

Their families released statements via Horizon Christian.

Jackson Mobley

A "gentle giant" and a "dream son," Mobley's family said he wanted to study HVAC in the fall at Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta and desired to one day own a HVAC commercial business. He began attending Horizon Christian in the 7th grade.

"Family was everything to him. He was a friend to all, could make you laugh like no other and had big dreams. ... The void Jack will leave behind is insurmountable. We know the last thing his soul did earthside was to help save his sister," Mobley's family said, noting he "had the best one-liners."

Jaylyn Fehr

Fehr started attending Horizon Christian in the 1st grade and was a volleyball player for the school and for A5 Gwinnett Volleyball Club, her family said.

An honor roll student, Fehr planned to graduate next year and attend law school.

She was a member at Local Church Forsyth and youth group member at NorthPoint Community Church.

"She was smart, funny, witty, compassionate and empathetic. She loved the beach, her friends and her cats. Most of all, she loved Jesus. She boldly shared her faith not only by talking with others but also by the way she lived her life. ... Jaylyn's legacy is one of faith, kindness and connection. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her impact will continue to be felt throughout the many lives she touched," her family said.

A GoFundMe for Fehr raised at least $33,000 of its $50,000 goal as of early Thursday afternoon.

Charlotte Martin

A dual-enrolled and Advanced Placement student, Martin has attended Horizon Christian since kindergarten. While attending the school, she played Varsity volleyball and soccer and competed with A5 Club Volleyball.

Martin was a leader and member of the National Honor Society, HOSA, Forsyth County Student Government and Youth Leadership Forsyth. She was also an after-school worker for Horizon Christian and tended to the younger children at her church.

"Her life reflected a rare combination of excellence, leadership and kindness. She was a dedicated student, consistently at the top of her class. ... Charlotte approached everything she did with discipline, humility and a genuine heart for others. While her achievements were many, what defined Charlotte most was her faith, her kindness and the way she loved others. We find peace knowing she is with the Lord, and her life will continue to impact everyone who knew her. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, teammates and teachers, and her impact on those around her will not be forgotten. She will be missed beyond words and remembered always," her family said.

A GoFundMe for Martin raised at least $11,000 of its $35,000 goal as of early Thursday afternoon.
