Community Update

Anybody ever just say,, ok my partner/spouse is sick, disabled, whatever & they will never be the same. Our former life is now in the past & this is our NEW way of living. Anybody just finally GET IT???
One of the last things a Caregiver will do is accept that our Loved One will never get better. Our world consists of Small Victories followed by Crushing Failures, usually not any fault of ours, but the progression of the disease that is stealing our Loved One away from us.
As time goes on, our world shrinks from being out oyster to mostly quiet nights in the living room watching TV or a movie as reality sinks in.  Visiting family or friends becomes an uncomfortable experience as you notice that all kind of shy away from touching, talking or breathing the same air as our Loved Ones.  Children are admonished not to bother someone that would truly love to be bothered by the chatter of children or listen to the most beautiful of music,,,children s laughter.
So, we are left with Acceptance.  We accept our Loved One will never be the same to anyone except ourselves.
We accept that we will never be at the top of anyones party list.
We accept that we will never again be accepted by anyone except ourselves.
And worse, I accept that I will in all likelihood be left behind as she walks through Heavens Gate, straight, strong and talking up a storm while my tears of sadness and joy moisten the ground where her earthly remains lie...
