ALS Association of Georgia and MDA Present Funds to Emory ALS Center from Joint Fundraising Event

Atlanta, GA-June 30, 2015 - Representatives from the ALS Association of Georgia (ALSAGA) and the Muscular Dystropy Association (MDA) presented $36,000 to Dr. Jonathan Glass, Director of the Emory ALS Center from funds raised at the inaugural Shoot Out ALS which took place on April 23, 2015. Blalock Lakes Hunting Club in Newnan, GA was the setting for the joint fundraiser hosted by ALSAGA and MDA. Jackson Healthcare was the Title Sponsor of the event that brought sportsmen and women out for a tournament of clay shooting, raffles, and ALS awareness.

Shoot Out ALS was special because it was a collaborative effort of the two national organizations who dedicate their work to ALS patients. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It takes away the ability to move, speak, swallow, and ultimately breathe. There is no cure.

The Emory ALS Center is one of the largest clinical centers for ALS in the Unites States. Its team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, nurses, therapists, and dieticians care for both the physical and emotional needs of patients and families.
