Here are the top five stories in Cumming today:

  1. Wood Partners recently announced the groundbreaking of its latest high-end residential community called Alta North in Cumming. The development will be a joint venture with CP Capital US and will be located at the intersection of GA 400 and Settingdown Circle. The development is set to open in late 2023 with pre-leasing to begin that autumn. (Yahoo Finance)
  2. StretchLab, a global leader in assisted stretching with a location right here in Cumming, is celebrating its 200th studio opening on Jun. 24. StretchLab has only been in the franchising industry for less than five years but has seen explosive growth across the globe including 700 signed franchise agreements. Check out Cumming's StretchLab location at 916 Market Pl Blvd. (The Bakersfield Californian)
  3. In the case of David Ellis Ippisch, a former bar owner accused of rape, a judge has ruled that previous alleged victims cannot testify against him. According to Western Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Eric Norris, testimony from two previous alleged victims of Ippisch "is substantially outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice, confusion of the issues or misleading the jury or by considerations of undue delay, waste of time, or needless presentation of cumulative evidence." Ippisch, who is currently living with his parents in Cumming, has been ordered to stay in the area and not leave Forsyth County. (Classic City News)
  4. Reports have surfaced that the North Georgia Crawfish & Catfish Festival was canceled at Cumming Fairgrounds last weekend after a failed food service inspection. Event Coordinator Michael LaHaye, a local food manufacturer, said he had been excited to host the crawfish festival and hoped to serve Forsyth County's some Cajun flavors. He and Babineaux, the two main food vendors for the event submitted applications to Forsyth County Environmental Health to have a permit issued for a temporary food service establishment. However, certain criteria were reportedly not met, according to the county, which caused the event to be canceled. (Subscription: Forsyth County News Online)
