The Chaumet Emerald Tiara

This Tiara Tuesday...a breathtaking Emerald tiara that could fit in on the set of 'The Great Gatsby'...enjoy!

This tiara was made in 1926 by famous French jeweler Chaumet, using stones from other jewelry that were part of the grand ducal collection.  The setting for this tiara is made of platinum.  In the center is a very striking egg-shaped emerald, and a very large diamond sits directly below it.  The rest of the piece is best described an Art Deco pattern made of diamonds. It belonged first to Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg.  She was married to Prince Félix of Bourbom-Parma in 1919.

In these pictures, Grand Duchess Charlotte wears the tiara on her forehead.  She was born at the right time and with the right style to wear this early 20th century piece.  Today, the tiara is worn by her daughter-in-law’s daughter-in-law, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.

While styles have changed since the 1920′s, emeralds are timeless.  In the photo above, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wears the tiara with several other breathtaking emerald pieces.
