Here are the top four stories in Cumming today:

  1. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office wants students to have fun and enjoy high school but is sending out a warning that violators could be prosecuted for vandalism, trespassing and damage to property during Junior-Senior Wars. "Have fun! Enjoy high school, but don't get in trouble or get hurt over a friendly prank. It's not worth it in the long run and could affect you the rest of your life."   2. A memorial ceremony remembering those who lost their lives to drug overdoses will be held Saturday Aug. 27 from 5-7 p.m. and Sunday Aug. 28 from 3-5 p.m. at Century 21 Results, 2920 Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Realty4Recovery will host the sixth annual Teacup Memorial, where candles will be lit and a moment of silence will be held in memory of those who have lost their lives to substance abuse.   3. Dr. Ken Crowe has been named executive director of the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Cumming Campus, effective Sept. 1. Crowe has served at UNG as assistant vice president for facilities since April 2017. As the chief administrator for the Cumming Campus, Crowe will work with Dr. Steven Smith, UNG's new vice president for regional campuses, as well as colleagues across the university to advance educational opportunities and community partnerships.   4. Holistic Health & Wellness will be hosting a networking event at Legends Distillery Saturday Sept 17 from 2-4 p.m. There will be goodie bags for the first 25 people, raffles, a vendor spotlight, samples and more. Those who register up to a week before the event will be peer matched with their target audience (Holistic Health & Wellness).
