Here are the top stories in Cumming today:

  1. Heavy trucks could be coming to a highway near you. Cumming representative and Georgia State Senator Greg Dolezal spoke on the need for improved infrastructure before passing the bill, which would allow 88,000-pound loads on Georgia roadways. According to Dolezal, Georgia ranks sixth from the bottom in the United States for infrastructure funding per road mile. (Land Line Media)
  2. Did your favorite place to eat pass inspection? Forsyth County officials inspected restaurants in and around Cummings and awarded them an "A," "B," "C," or "U" for their score. Hall and Hound and Coco's Cuban Restaurant both received 100-point "A" grades, while Cinco Mexican Cantina received a "B" for their 87. Click the link to see all of the grades. 3. If you're 55 years or older, a new home could be on the horizon. Traton Homes announced that they are beginning sales of homes in a new 55-plus community, which will be called Courtyards at Traditions in Cumming. The project will offer 42 ranch-style homes priced in the $500,000 range. Lawn care will be included. (Atlanta Agent magazine)
  4. Friends and family are mourning the loss of Former Forsyth County Commissioner Molly Cooper. Cooper died on Wednesday, according to county officials, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was remembered fondly by friends, family, and the County Commission. (Cumming Patch)
  5. It's raining cats and dogs! Not really, but there's a bunch of them up for adoption in town. Preston, the cat, is a big, fluffy guy who wants to cuddle up to you. Preston, the dog is a boxer puppy who's got lots of energy and love for a new home. (Cumming Patch)
