Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:
- Cumming was recently ranked one of the best school districts in Georgia. Cumming was ranked third on the list, placing only behind Buford and Watkinsville. The list was compiled by Stacker using data from Niche. (KPVI News 6)
- Multiple University of Georgia freshman football pass-catchers are earning early praise in training camp, including Oscar Delp of Cumming. The tight end is currently making a name for himself in the locker room and could have a positive impact as a freshman this season. (WSB Radio)
- University of North Carolina Women's Softball team is adding Tennessee transfer Bailey McCachren of Cumming. McCachren is a pitcher who in her sophomore season made 18 appearances in the circle and started eight games for the Lady Vols. In 40.1 innings of work, she tallied 24 strikeouts, finishing the season with a 5-2 record and a 4.14 ERA. (UNC Athletics)
- The Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce reported that an unaffiliated organization has allegedly been soliciting Chamber members in an effort to garner advertising revenue for their business. According to a statement posted on Facebook, the organization in question is telling individuals they received members' contact information from the Chamber and "possibly implying" that the Chamber is involved in their initiative in some way. The Chamber assured members that it is "not currently working or partnering with any organization that would be contacting you on our behalf." (Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce)
