Deputies Arrest Another Suspected Identity Thief

The suspect was following behind a delivery truck trying to obtain a package of items he ordered using a stolen credit card.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a third person involved in a new identity theft scam involving stolen credit cards and package deliveries.

According to a Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, a deputy was notified that a vehicle was following a delivery truck and honking at it repeatedly. The deputy located the suspect vehicle, initiated a traffic stop, and began speaking with the driver, the post continues.

The driver of the vehicle gave several different reasons as to why he was following the truck and honking at it, and a nearby K-9 officer who was dispatched to the scene alerted on the vehicle. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies found drug paraphernalia and Georgia driver’s licenses with the same picture but entirely different information.

As it turns out, Bright Arthur had been attempting to get the delivery driver to give him a package of iPhones he had ordered with a stolen credit card, WSB-TV says. Arthur had listed the delivery address for the package as an abandoned home, but the delivery driver became suspicious and called 911, WSB-TV adds.

Hours earlier, deputies had arrested two men in a truck who were attempting to take packages from the porch of a woman whose stolen credit card was used to buy the expensive items in the first place, deputies say.
