Deputies Seek Help Catching American Flag Thief

GAINESVILLE, GA — Authorities in Hall County are asking for help catching a suspect they say stole several U.S. flags from homes on Thanksgiving morning.

Investigators say home security cameras caught footage of the man at 4:47 a.m. Thursday in the Summer Creek Estates subdivision in south Hall County.

The man "is believed to be connected to the theft of several American flags from homes in the neighborhood that night," the Hall County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

Anyone with information on the person captured in the image, or about the thefts, is asked to contact the sheriff's office's Criminal Investigations Division at (770) 531-6879 and ask for investigator Doug Matthews.

They may also remain anonymous by calling a tip line at (770) 503-3232.
