New Driver Services Facility Running Smoothly

Cumming's new facility offers convenient, efficient service to satisfied customers.

The new Georgia Department of Driver Services operations opened Tuesday and offers the same services offered at the former County Way location in North Forsyth, but, according to Richard Turpin, Center Manager, it will “be offering more in the near future.”

Located at 400 Aquatic Circle, off Pilgrim Mill Road (exit 16 of GA 400), the 9,000 square foot facility broke ground about three months ago according to Turpin and was funded by the city of Cumming.

According to the DDS Web site, Commissioner Greg Dozier stated that “DDS will continue to find new and innovative ways to provide excellent customer service in the most efficient and convenient way possible.”

As for what will become of the former space, it “was always Georgia State Patrol; we just occupied part of the building,” said Turpin and it has since returned to the GSP.

Turpin added that the facility will eventually become a CDL (commercial driving license) test site.

The facility is open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon and overlooks the .
