Here are the top three stories today in Cumming:

1. Authorities responded to a drowning Sunday at Lake Lanier's Old Federal Campground, Hall County Fire Rescue reported. Adelso Enrique Barillas, 21, of Kansas City, Missouri, had been swimming with two friends at Old Federal Campground when he began struggling, went under and never resurfaced. Witnesses told authorities that Barillas had been underwater for about 20 minutes. Divers with Hall County Marine Rescue Team quickly retrieved the victim and CPR was performed immediately. They continued lifesaving efforts while in route to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, but could not resuscitate him. (Forsyth County News)
2. A Cumming woman driving 104 mph while intoxicated near Marengo, Illinois has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide after killing two people Sept. 29, 2021. Miranda A. Johnson, 27, was driving under the influence of cocaine on Route 23 and Coral Road when she disobeyed a stop sign. Carlos Valencia, 34, and Julie Greif, 51, died from their injuries. Shows are at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and 3 p.m. Sundays.
