Escaped Tennessee Inmate Captured in Forsyth County

The men, including David Wayne Frazier, had escaped through a hole behind a jail toilet.

CUMMING, GA — The last of a group of inmates who escaped a Tennessee jail through a hole behind a toilet was captured Wednesday in Forsyth County.

David Wayne Frazier was captured by U.S. Marshals on Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

He and a group of five other inmates escaped from Cocke County Jail in Tennessee on Monday, after removing a toilet and going through a hole in the wall left behind, according to law enforcement officials.

Most of the escapees were either captured or turned themselves in to authorities the same day. But Frazier made it to Georgia, where he was arrested without incident in a wooded area near Hwy. 20 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said.

He did not have a weapon or drugs in his possession. He was taken to Forsyth County Detention Center and, Thursday, was in the process of being extradited back to Tennessee.

Four people who authorities say helped the men after their escape also face charges in the case.
