Here are the top four stories in Cumming today:

  1. Homecoming tickets for Forsyth Central High School are now on sale. A vintage Hollywood theme, the semi-formal event will be held outdoors Saturday, Sept. 17 from 7-10 p.m. at FCHS. Students may purchase tickets online through My Payments Plus or with cash or check. If students wish to bring a date who does not attend FCHS, they must pick up a form from Ms. Adams in Room 147.   2. Holistic Health & Wellness will be hosting a networking event at Legends Distillery Saturday Sept. 17 from 2-4 p.m. There will be goodie bags for the first 25 people, raffles, a vendor spotlight, samples and more. Those who register up to a week before the event will be peer matched with their target audience. (Holistic Health & Wellness)
  3. The Lambert volleyball team attended the Tournament of Champions in Guntersville, Alabama over Labor Day weekend and came back as silver bracket champion. The Longhorns finished 2-1 in pool play, losing to Jasper (Alabama) and winning to James Clemens (Alabama) and Hardin Valley (Tennessee). They beat Trinity Presbyterian (Alabama) in the quarterfinals, rallied to beat Bob Jones (Alabama) in the semis, and stormed past Westminster (Alabama) in the championship match.   4. Interested in composting and encouraging biodiversity in your garden or landscape? Well, the Georgia Green Landscape Stewards Program, created by University of Georgia Extension, is a certification program for businesses and residences. It will be holding a five-part series starting today at Cumming Library from 7-8:30 p.m. The goal is to provide fact-based information to clientele and help them implement sustainable green practices in their landscape. These sessions will educate residents on what they can do to have their landscapes certified as a Green Georgia Landscape. (Forsyth Public Library)
