🌱 FOCO's Strong Volleyball Start + New Chicken Salad Chick Opening

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Cumming.

Good morning, Cumming. It's Friday!!! I'm here in your inbox this morning to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on in town.

Dad Joke: "I thought the dryer was shrinking my clothes. Turns out it was the refrigerator all along."

Today's weather:

A stray morning thundershower. High: 89 Low: 68.

Here are the top three stories today in Cumming:

  1. Forsyth County high schools began the 2022 volleyball season on fire with three teams starting 2-0. Having won only one game last year, East Forsyth cruised past Commerce and Clarke Central in straight sets. Lambert also rolled, limiting Midtown and Chamblee to 12 or fewer points in each set. West Forsyth knocked off Mountain View and Duluth Tuesday night in straight sets as well. (Forsyth County News)
  2. A new Chicken Salad Chick is coming to Georgia. There will be 38 stores in the state when it opens next week within the Perimeter Marketplace shopping center at 4706 Ashford Dunwoody Road. The restaurant will feature catering and "Quick Chick" to-go options. It will serve in-store lunch and dinner as well as offer curbside pickup, delivery and carryout. Plus, Uber Eats is launching soon. Chicken Salad Chick has over 200 restaurants in 17 states across the country (Fast Casual).
  3. A man was shot Wednesday afternoon outside of a car dealership in Canton. As of Wednesday evening, police were investigating the incident at the dealership on Liberty Boulevard. Kevon Phillip Duffas, 30, shot Uriah Tyrek James, 24, in the leg. Officers performed life-saving techniques on James, applying a tourniquet to his leg before he was taken to the hospital. His current condition has not been released. Duffas was taken to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Police said that neither James or Duffas was a customer or employee at the car dealership. It's unclear if there was any prior relationship between the two and the investigation is still ongoing.
