Forsyth Overdoses Lead to Bad-Drug Concerns

Three people overdosed, and one died, in a 15-hour period over the weekend, the Forsyth County Sheriff's office said.

CUMMING, GA — Three people overdosed, and one of them died, in a 15-hour period this weekend that has Forsyth County authorities worried a bad batch of drugs may be in town.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office announced the string of overdoses Sunday evening. The two people who survived their overdose were hospitalized in serious condition.

At the scene of the deadly overdose, sheriff's deputies say they found "evidence of significant drug trafficking," including large amounts of suspected heroin and marijuana, prescription narcotics, unknown white powder and large sums of money.

In a social media post, the sheriff's office said the overdoses may be evidence of a bad batch of drugs in the community, possibly heroin or fentanyl.

"Our deputies are working nonstop to locate and apprehend the dealers of this poison in our community," the post reads.

"Anyone contemplating using or knowing persons addicted to such drugs should heed this warning — your life may be at stake. Every day our deputies work hard to save lives, we are committed to going after anyone dealing drugs in this community and keeping Forsyth safe."
