Fugitive Caught in N.C. With Truck Stolen in Forsyth

Man who left work detail found with vehicle he stole from Forsyth County street, according to deputies.

The man accused of fleeing a jail work detail in Monroe County was found in North Carolina with a car he stole in Forsyth County, deputies announced Tuesday.

Eric Coe was serving a 120-day sentence we he walk off the work detail site, stealing one car and driving to Forsyth County, where he stole a second vehicle.

Authorities announced Friday that they were searching for Coe, but it appears he was long gone from the area.

Coe was arrested Tuesday in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., with the black Ford Ranger XLT reported stolen on the street where deputies found the initial escape car.

Coe has a prior arrest history that includes theft and burglary, and was approximately halfway through a 120-day boot camp program in Monroe County.
