GoFundMe Supporting Children, Man Hit While Waiting For Bus

CUMMING, GA — A GoFundMe has already raised more than $12,000 for a local family after two children and an adult male were hit by a car while waiting for a school bus Friday morning.

The GoFundMe was created by the parents of the girls' classmates, and has more than 200 donors. As of Monday morning, just one day after it was created, the GoFundMe exceeded its $5,000 goal and was at $12,000.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office was at the site of a serious traffic incident on Buford Highway near Echols Road Friday morning.

Public Information Officer Doug Rainwater said a Forsyth County school bus had stopped in the right lane eastbound Buford Highway to pick up students. The bus driver had activated the red flashing lights prior to stopping, and then the stop arm after coming to a stop.

Jose Arturo Corejo-Nunez, 43, was walking two sisters, ages 6 and 9-years-old, to the stopped school bus from their driveway.

At the same time, a blue Toyota Camry driven by Christopher Ray Frachiseur, 19, of Forsyth County, was traveling eastbound on Buford Highway. The Camry did not stop for the school bus and jumped the curb and traveled to the right of the school bus. The Camry went onto the sidewalk and struck Corejo-Nunez and the children as they were walking on the sidewalk to the bus, Rainwater said.

The AJC reported that the impact from the car threw one of the girls, a fourth-grader, into a ditch, the district told the AJC.

Corejo-Nunez and the girls were all transported by ambulance to metro-area hospitals for their injuries. One girl is in critical condition and was in the ICU on Friday. The other girl and the man are in stable condition. Frachiseur was not injured.

Frachiseur was arrested on the scene and taken to the Forsyth County Jail. He is being charged with the following:

• Three counts of serious injury by vehicle, felony
• Driving under the influence of drugs
• Reckless driving
• Failure to stop for a school bus loading or unloading
• Too fast for conditions
• Due care while operating a motor vehicle

The crash remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Traffic Specialist Unit.

There were already 20 students heading to Haw Creek Elementary at the time of the crash.
